What is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is a plant-based treatment to replace depleted hormones. Hormone imbalances are common with age, but they can cause several uncomfortable symptoms that diminish your quality of life. In men, BHRT treats low testosterone levels. Men begin losing about 1% of their natural testosterone each year, starting around age 30. Not only can this cause low libido, but it also affects a man’s physical characteristics. How does bioidentical hormone replacement therapy work?

At Infinity Regenerative and Neuropathy Center, Dr. Horrilleno uses the Pellecome™ pellet delivery system to restore your hormone balance. 

Once placed beneath your skin, BHRT pellets consistently release fixed levels of hormones. They eliminate the need to apply messy creams or take daily pills. Dr. Horrilleno can determine the correct formulation for you at your initial consultation. 

As the pellet dissolves over 3-4 months, it continues releasing hormones that your bloodstream absorbs. Dr. Horrilleno inserts a new pellet approximately 3-4 times a year, monitoring your hormone levels at each visit.

How long does bioidentical hormone replacement therapy take to work?

Inserting your pellet takes just 15 minutes. Once inserted, the treatment starts working within 7-10 days. Many patients experience significant relief in their hormone imbalance symptoms after about 2-4 weeks of treatment. 

However, peak relief from your symptoms typically occurs around six months after the pellet insertion.
